Kurdor The Newcomer – The art of a dystopian utopia by PJ Mackintosh
Imagine utopia – what would it actually look like? A place where people don’t work and spend their time on art, music and sport. A place where A.I. does everything for you? That’s Kurdor, albeit a small island isolated from the rest of the world. Full of art, textiles, sport and song. We follow the life of Emily Millar, a young girl who lives a peaceful, but some may say naïve life – under the ever-watchful eye of an A.I. system called Arthur. Sounds dull, doesn’t it?
One day, Emily has a chance meeting that changes her life forever. In the days that follow, Emily sees this island paradise of Kurdor in a different light – and falls deep inside the cracks. Emily and Arthur find themselves at the centre of world events that conspire against them. Will they succeed in saving Kurdor – saving the world? No one is safe. No one cares. Will Emily ever see the world the same way? Will you?
